Quantum Cryptography: How to Break Unbreakable Ciphers?
dr hab. Marcin Pawłowski, prof. UG
International Center for Theory of Quantum Technologies
University of Gdansk
The development of quantum computers has created a major threat to secure communication, and it is very likely that in just a few years we will be able to decipher messages that were supposed to be secret for many centuries. The possibility of preserving privacy in the future is provided by quantum cryptography, for which we have evidence that it is absolutely impossible to break. Despite this, almost all commercially available quantum systems have been hacked even though it shouldn't be possible. During the lecture, I will explain this paradox and tell you how to break the security of quantum cryptography and whether there is a way to protect yourself against all possible attacks. I will also present the current situation on the commercial quantum cryptography market and the progress of the European Union in connecting member countries using this technology.
